Get Paid NSW PREVIEW
General information only, not legal advice. Get Paid NSW is not a law firm. Dates are estimates based on the NSW Government's published Security of Payment timeframes. Your contract, how and when the document was actually received, exempt work and law changes can all change them. Check the sources and get legal advice before you rely on a date. Everything you type stays in this browser.

Holiday list covers 2026–2027 only. Add the 2028 NSW public holidays to rules.js (from nsw.gov.au/about-nsw/public-holidays) by late November 2027. NSW is reviewing its public holidays from 2027, so don't guess them.

Payment claim builder

The claim won't be generated without both. The tool can't check these for you.

Service log

Record proof of service for each claim or notice. Keep the actual evidence (post receipt, email, photo) yourself.

Quote follow-ups

Add a quote you've sent. You get follow-up dates for day 2, 5 and 10 and your own message ready to copy. Nothing is sent automatically; you send it from your own phone or email.

Things this preview is unsure about

Business day excludes Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and 27–31 December. We couldn't load the Act's own text when building this; the wording comes from published commentary and must be checked against s4.
Bank Holiday (first Monday in August) is treated as a business day, because it's a bank closure rather than a general public holiday. Confirm.
Local or regional public holidays aren't included. Dates after 2027 aren't covered; the calculator warns you.
Weekend/holiday service: adjudicators are split on whether a non-business service day is "day zero" or service counts from the next business day. The default shows both and gives the more cautious estimate for each side. (Source: independent review of informal adjudicator surveys; no official ruling found.)
Time of service: the NSW Supreme Court held a contract clause deeming after-5pm service to be next-day was void under s34, so a document served any time on a business day counts as served that day (reported by Pinsent Masons and Cornwalls; judgment not read directly). The "cautious next-day view" is an option only, not the rule.
Postal service: we use the delivery date you enter. Deemed delivery "in the ordinary course of post" (Interpretation Act 1987 (NSW) s76) is an ASSUMPTION; we couldn't confirm it from the official legislation site.
Exempt residential work (s11(1C)): the contract's payment term applies with no maximum; 10 business days only if the contract is silent. Taken from the NSW page and the review; s11(1C) text not read directly.
Calendar-day contract terms are counted as plain calendar days. Whether a period ending on a weekend rolls forward depends on the contract. "End of month following" terms aren't supported yet.
The official page says the "made under the Act" statement is required for subcontractors on residential-connected contracts. The claim builder always includes it. For head contractors claiming from a principal it adds a supporting statement page; check it against the approved form before serving.
Claims can only cover work in the last 12 months, and only one claim per reference date. The tool can't check this; it asks you to confirm both before generating a claim.
